I’m so excited to announce that I’m going to be a mentor with the new DVMentor program from DiverseVoices, Inc.! This particular mentorship program is intended for unagented authors who are BIPOC, queer, trans/nonbinary, disabled (including neurodivergence and neuroatypicality), or belong to a religious or cultural minority, and as a mentor I will be providing my mentee with editorial feedback, querying guidance, and optional pitch help for participation in October’s #DVpit.
I’ll be looking at both graphic novel and YA submissions—paying special attention to graphic novel applications, as the only mentor in that category. And while my wishlist represents the types of stories I think I could help with most, I’ll be giving every submission my full consideration! For me, this is an opportunity to give something back to the book community that was so supportive of me throughout my own querying process, and I hope to help my mentee learn from both my successes and mistakes! The list of mentors is impressive as hell, and I’m beyond honored to be in such brilliant company.
Mentee applications are open NOW through May 15th. If you’re a marginalized, unagented author and/or graphic novel creator, click here to find out more!
