MJ’s debut finds a home!

I’ve never liked keeping secrets, and I’ve been keeping this one longer than I thought I’d ever be able to bear. Now I’m thrilled to announce that my debut novel, I WAS A TEENAGE DEATH GOD, will be coming out early next year! My journey with this book has been a wild one, but there’s no better outcome I could have wished for than to put it in the hands of Page Street Publishing and the incredible Tamara Grasty, whose taste in books is so spectacular, I’m humbled to have caught their attention. From Publisher’s Weekly:

Announcement from Publisher's Weekly: Tamara Grasty at Page Street has acquired M.J. Beasi's debut, I Was a Teenage Death God, a YA paranormal mystery, in a two-book deal. For Charlie, stealing life from high school randos is an okay price to ensure their twin sister and best friend-slash-crush remain off-limits to Lou, the ghost who's been threatening Charlie their whole life. Charlie's literal road trip to self-discovery sets them and everyone they love on a collision course with a dark family legacy not even their mother's Toyota can outrun. Publication is set for winter 2026; Lee O'Brien at Looking Glass Literary and Media sold world rights.

It’s a strange and scary time to be writing books like mine, and it’s even for the teens I’m writing for. It’s for their sake that I’ll keep writing, no matter how scary things become, to show them how worthy they are and hopefully make them feel a little more real and a little less alone as our government seeks to erase them.

Much more news to come, including publication date, cover reveal, pre-order links, and updates on the second book I’m writing now!
